About Knight Accounting
My clients will say that I am not your typical CPA. I’m not sure what typical is these days, but I have been told that I do a few things that others don’t.
COMMUNICATION: The simplest of these is simply responding to calls and emails. I never knew this was lacking from other providers, but I do my best to return all calls and emails within 24 hours. Email is always best, as I’m known to sleep with my phone and often reply at off hours! I also believe that every taxpayer has the right to understand their tax situation.
EDUCATION: Whle others try to justify their work by taking over client’s head and making it all seem complicated, I take a different appraoch. I believe that it’s my job to fully explain the details, as many times as it takes, until my clients feel like they understand their situation. After all, it’s their taxes, not mine, and the key to saving money on taxes is knowledge!
CONNECTION: I would not enjoy my work if I wasn't able to connect with my clients. If you're looking for a formal setting, you won't find it here. The best part of my job is being able to get to know my clients and help them with their financial situation, far beyond their tax return.
MEDIA: Because of my straight shooter approach, I've been asked to contribute to NPR Marketplace the Wall Street Journal, CNN Money, The National Association of Tax Professionals, the Summit Daily, and Thomson Reuters Continuing Education Programs for accountants. I am grateful for each opportunity, and I take the responsibility of helping educate both the public and others in the industry very seriously. Check out my Media & Publishing page for some of my work.
Who We Are
Michele Knight, CPA/Owner
There is no doubt, I was born to be a CPA. I learned to read with the Wall Street Journal and I always preferred a 10-key to a video game. I graduated from St. Michael's College with degrees in Accounting, Business Administration and Economics.
After working in public accounting (Arthur Andersen) and the restaurant industry (Qdoba Mexican Grill and Dave & Buster's), I realized that my passion was helping individuals and small businesses, not large corporations. At age 24, I decided to "hang a shingle" and I've been serving clients ever since.
I'm blessed with a wonderful work/life balance, and I work primarily from my home in Frisco, CO. I rent office space in the Denver area during my busy times of year, but you'll usually find me in the mountains with my two sons, Jacob and Ethan.
I enjoy running, biking, skiing, trampolines and diving boards, but chasing my boys around is always the most fun.
